Senior Marquise Riley, wearing jersey No. 1 on the Richland Northeast basketball team, signed to Louisburg College in North Carolina on Monday, April 24. In Riley’s final season at Richland Northeast, he averaged 10 points per game, with 6 rebounds and one block.

During the signing, Riley was surrounded by his grandmother Grace Riley, girlfriend Chelsea Ellerson, mother Nikia Riley, principal Sabrina Suber, and Coach Aaron Lucas.“It was an exciting feeling and a big accomplishment,” Riley said.

During Riley’s four years at Richland Northeast, he felt that Coach Lucas and his teammates helped him reach this point.“It was great and it had a great ending,” Riley said, describing his last season here.

Head basketball coach ,Aaron Lucas, worked with Riley for his four years on the team. He was excited for Riley because this was something he wanted to achieve for a long time. “He will do well. He is surrounded by good coaches,” Lucas said.
Lucas has also seen Riley’s progress from his freshman year through his senior year.“He has grown a lot to a young man more than a player,” Lucas said.
