Varsity Football Open’s Season

September 1, 2015

Last Friday the Cavaliers began their campaign for this season against the Westwood Redhawks. The Cavaliers looked to improve upon their 2-8 record from last year. The Cavaliers used a interception taken back for a touchdown by Terrick Hunter and a strong run game to go into halftime with a 14-0 lead. The second half started out the same way with the Cavaliers controlling the ball and having a stellar defense. The Redhawks however eventually found their groove and took a 27-20 lead late in the 4th quarter. With one more chance to have the ball the Cavaliers received a roughing the kicker penalty. With new life and a fresh set of downs the Redhawks charge down the field kicked a field goal to give them a 30-20 lead with less than a minute left in the game. The Cavaliers (0-1) will visit Lancaster next Friday.
