The Richland Northeast Cavaliers took the field last Friday night against the Airport Eagles. The Eagles struck first with a 64 yard touchdown pass by Brett Burnett. The Cavaliers would be quick to respond with a 10 yard touchdown pass by Aloysius Jackson. The Cavaliers would not slow down, scoring three more touchdowns, including an eight yard interception returned for a touchdown by Michael Joyner. When asked about the interception Joyner stated, ”It felt good to help my team out, and after my interception I was 100% positive we were going to win the game.”  The Cavs would head into halftime with a 27-6 lead.

Coming out of halftime the Cavs would not slow down scoring two more touchdowns in the third quarter to increase their lead to 41-6, but the Eagles would not go away scoring another touchdown in the third to make the score 41-13. The Cavs would score one more touchdown in the fourth quarter to make the score of the game 47-13.

Big performances from the Cavs came from Quarterback Aloysius Jackson with 151 yards on the ground and another 134 through the air. When asked about his performance Jackson stated, “I did what my team needed me to do, but at the end of the day, I did what I could do because everyone else did their jobs. That’s how we win games, work together and do our jobs!”

Other big performers were Charles Simmons with two touchdowns and Michael Joyner with an interception for a touchdown. The Cavaliers next game is against York High School this Friday. Tim Gibson tells about how the team has prepared for York, “To stop York we have to play fast because they have some athletes that can make plays in space. We believe that if we play fast and physical we will be able to stop them and force three and outs every chance we get.”
