The Light Shines on Jamal Hamilton

May 4, 2015

On April 17th, the lights of the gym went out, but the students continued to shine.

Prior to the pep rally, the students competed to see which grade could raise more money for Jamal Hamilton, a graduate who had to get a kidney transplant. The school raised more than $1000 and Jamal came to the pep rally after his transplant to announce the winners. Seniors took home first place, sophomores second, freshman third, and juniors fourth.

Up next, students chanted and cheered for their classmates who took the floor, glow sticks attached, to dance for the gold. The sophomores took the crown for the competition, and their dancing representative Ajophonie Goodwin was showered in glow sticks and cheers before the pep rally started to come to a close.

Richland Northeast has had good pep rallies, maybe even great ones, but this one would be one to remember.
