Varsity Volleyball falls in playoffs

October 29, 2015

Last year, Coach Keredith James took over the Northeast varsity volleyball program and lead the Lady Cavaliers to playoffs for the first time in  a decade.  This season, James again lead the Lady Cavaliers to playoffs. The team was undefeated in region play until falling to Camden, leaving them 4-1 before the second round of region play.  “At the beginning we were ranked No. 1, got the big head and started to slack,” sophomore Logan McMullan said. As region play progressed, the season’s momentum began to shift. This was partly because of the loss of key player and senior Elizabeth “Izzy” Craig due to a concussion.  After the second round of region play, the team finished the season with a 4-5 region record, falling to every region team excluding Lower Richland.  This did not keep the Lady Cavaliers from the postseason, entering fourth seed in 3A state playoffs.  The Lady Cavaliers faced first seed Eastside High School, falling 3-0.  Although the season ended, Sophomore Logan McMullin is optimistic about the future of Northeast Volleyball “I am extremely excited about next season,” McMullin said. “I have an entire club season to step my game up.  I plan to make it to playoffs [next season] and at least make it past the second round.” The set scores were as follows:

Eastside 25-15,

Eastside 25-9,

Eastside 25- 19
