Some things happen in high school that you will never forget; maybe it is when you scored the game-winning point, starred in the school play, or even when you aced an exam. For many students at Richland Northeast, that memory is homecoming week, a time to dress-up, have fun, and represent the school you love.

“I will bleed orange and blue forever,” said senior Elijah Slater 

Leading up to the homecoming game on Friday, October 30th, RNE challenged students and staff to dress up for “Cavoweentown,” a Halloween-themed spirit week. The week included themed days such as Stranger Things twin day on Monday and Scooby-Doo on Thursday day bringing the Halloween spirit and getting everyone excited for the game against Lugoff-Elgin.

The week closed off with the announcement of Homecoming Court which included seniors Elijah Slater and Rosalina Macon as Homecoming King and Homecoming Queen alongside juniors Kirion McNair and Juliette Maxfield as Homecoming Prince and Homecoming Princess. For the members of the homecoming court, it did not just mean winning a prize; it meant being a representative of a place they love.

“I’m so thankful that my classmates elected me to be a representation of the school and the embodiment of an RNE student,” said Macon.
