If the positive person isolates, a 14 day quarantine starts AFTER the last day of contact with positive person.

  • If a student cannot avoid the person testing positive, this means a 24-day quarantine- during the 10-day isolation period of the person testing positive, then 14 day quarantine begins after the person testing positive completes isolation.

If student is fully vaccinated…

No quarantine required. Must monitor symptoms for two weeks, wear a mask, and socially distance.

If student is in close contact with someone in close contact…

No quarantine required.

If student has symptoms of COVID-19 but has no known exposures to COVID-19…

Should be excluded from school if they have any of the following symptoms (with or without a fever):

  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Loss of taste or smell
  • New or worsening cough

If symptoms can be explained by an underlying condition exclusion may not be necessary. The previous list is not a complete list of symptoms of COVID-19, but rather a list of symptoms that should include an automatic exclusion and evaluation for COVID-19. Other symptoms may include fever, chills, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea/vomiting, or diarrhea. A person is able to spread the virus up to two (2) days before they have any symptoms, but many COVID-19 cases show no symptoms at all.

“CDC continues to recommend quarantine for 14 days after last exposure. However, there are options to reduce the duration of quarantine in either of the following two scenarios. While these options may be available in other districts, Richland Two is currently only offering the standard 14-day Quarantine due to the large numbers of students and employees in isolation and quarantine. We hope to be able to offer shortened quarantine options in the future.”
