Students arrive at the University of South Carolina for the South Carolina Scholastic Press Association (SCSPA) fall conference and competition in front of the Thomas Cooper Library fountain.
On Wednesday, Oct. 15, CavPlex journalism students attended the South Carolina Scholastic Press Association (SCSPA) fall conference and competition. Students attended breakout sessions to further their knowledge about journalism. The conference closed with an awards ceremony for last year’s literary magazine and yearbook. CavPlex students received individual awards, and the literary magazine received a Superior rating (the second-highest rating) while the yearbook received an Honor rating (the third-highest rating). The yearbook also received the Palmetto Award for Class III, meaning it was the best yearbook among schools with similar student enrollment.
