What have you learned in AVID that you will use in the future?
Time management, for sure. I feel like starting off I wasn’t very sure about what I wanted to do, and I wanted to do so much, but I didn’t have enough time. And I think time management just really helped me select what things I really wanted to do, and then how I could work around them to be able to fit them all in my schedule.
What’s your favorite AVID memory?
Oh, my favorite memory has to be probably junior year doing the Special Olympics bowling. We were helping special needs students bowl. My friends weren’t there, but I had to talk to new people. I just opened up to them a lot more. It was really fun, because helping all the little kids bowl was something that I really enjoyed.
How has AVID helped you through high school?
It’s helped me do everything. I feel like I’m a lot more confident, a lot more open. I love talking to new people because of it, and I feel like it’s just helped me find my place and how I want to be in the future.

What have you learned in AVID that you will later use in the future?
Definitely, time management skills and organization. In college, you’re going to need that for sure. That’s something that is a must-have. I just don’t think I’m going to be anywhere I would be without AVID, because I wouldn’t have been able to keep my schedule on point or my test. I wouldn’t know when that would be. So it’s helped me a lot, for sure,
What’s your favorite AVID memory?
My favorite AVID memory would definitely be when all of my friends are together, like Abby, Isaac, Arly, Samara, Adam, we’re all at the table, and we’re just basically talking about our future, like when we’re talking about what school we want to go to, what are we going to do, and basically talking about how life is going to be after high school, and how we’re still going to be able to communicate too, because I don’t want to, obviously, I don’t want to lose contact with them. So I’m very excited, though.
How has AVID helped you through high school?
AVID has helped me with a lot. AVID has helped me realize how much I need to be connected with people. Because if I weren’t in AVID, I feel like I would be a lot less confident, I wouldn’t know what to do, or who I would be with. I feel like I would be really shy still, but I feel like AVID has opened me up to be more outgoing and meet a lot of amazing people. I’ve gotten to be a lot closer with them. I feel like, no matter where I go, I will be able to still communicate with people and connect with them, no matter how shy I might be. I feel like I’m just way more confident.

What have you learned in AVID that you will later use in the future?
Definitely, things like organization and collaboration. I was not too big on collaboration, like throughout high school. But since joining AVID, I learned to advocate for myself and to talk to people because closed mouths don’t get fed. So when I put myself out there and ask questions, I just figure out what I have to do. I think that’s pretty useful, and I’ll use that.
What’s your favorite AVID memory?
I would say it’s one of the activities we did, like cookie decorating, because it gave us a chance to talk and be interactive with each other.
How has AVID helped you through high school?
Things like organization, collaboration. It definitely gave me a community because I transferred here after my sophomore year of high school. So coming in here, not knowing anybody, it just gave me people to know.
