Q&A with Amanda Ladymon, National Art Honor Society sponsor
Why was this event held?
We were invited by Benedict to participate. Their goal was to expand their reach to students in hopes of recruiting students to consider applying to Benedict College’s Art program.
Will this event be a yearly occurrence?
I think they do it once a year but each year they choose different high schools to invite.
What should attendees expect?
Students learned about the art program, saw the facilities, had a little art lesson with a famous illustrator/artist Sanford Greene.
Why was this event held?
As I mentioned above, to share their program with students in the Columbia area.
How was the experience?
I think it was great! I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Is there anything you’d like to add?
I taught at Benedict College for two years back around 2016 or so. I taught ceramics, figure drawing, art appreciation, and other studio art classes.
