This afternoon, RNE announced its new principal, Dr. Marlon Thomas, who is set to replace Principal Mark Sims for the 2024-2025 school year. Thomas was a former biology and physics teacher at RNE and has the principal of Lamar High School since 2020. He started his educational career in 1999 as an earth science teacher at W.C Sullivan Middle School. After that, he served as assistant principal at Blythewood Middle School and Ridge View High School. He earned his doctorate in education at South Carolina State University.

Caroline Brandes is a current sophomore at Richland Northeast High School, where she is involved in Convergence Media Program and the school's Mock Trial team. She acts as Editor-in-Chief of The Saber online publication, along with her co-editor Alyssa Amaker. In her free time, she does Girl Scouts, and enjoys cooking, reading, and writing. After graduation, she hopes to attend college, and possibly study law.
